If you are between the ages of 10 and 13, NLCC is the ideal place to start.Â
If you are turning 14 this year, you should start in NSCC.
So, cadets (and parents) what are you committing to? We meet, or drill, the 2nd Saturday of each month at the Chico Veterans Memorial Hall at 554 Rio Lindo Ave, Chico from 0800-1600 hrs. We expect you to be early with your uniform squared away for morning colors (National Anthem and formation) at 0800 sharp. Most drills you'll bring a lunch. The Plan of the Day (POD) is provided about a week in advance which gives all the details of the drill and is the responsible of each cadet to read it. Communication is expected from cadets to the appropriate squad leader, which works its way up the chain of command for accountability. From time to time we will have parades, special events, competitions, field trips, overnights, or community service activities. These will be emailed to you beforehand. Your attendance is generally not required but very strongly encouraged.
Next steps: Contact us via the online form. Meet with us or shadow a drill or two. If you commit, then we'll get your picture for the ID card. Complete the Cadet Application and Agreement (requires a medical screening) and provide it to us. We'll review, collect the initial year membership fees, and issue uniforms. You'll start your correspondence coursework and be prepared to join us, in your uniform, at our next drill.
